ANGELS WATCHING OVER YOU

Have you ever thought you have a guardian angel? Ever have a close call-change lanes and avoid an accident or know you were in danger so you got away? Many people believe in guardian angels. Doreen Virtue says we each have at least one angel with us all the time for our whole lives.

"God and the angels have always spoken to you continuously. They have been guiding, coaxing and encouraging you since you were first created. Not one moment in your entire history have you been apart from God and His wise love," Virtue says in Divine Guidance.

I find this belief provides solace and gives me a sense of being loved and cared for. We know that as humans we all are doing our best to love and support others. And our best is great. However, a TRUE sense of unconditional love comes from the divine.

No matter what I eat or how much exercise I get or what's still on my to-do list, the divine connection is available. As many of us struggle to feel love and approval, it is comforting to know we are connected, able to get inspiration, insight and help. Virtue explains that we do have free will to make choices and mistakes without interference. We aren't puppets. So this angelic connection does not direct us, it only helps.

We also may have dear departed loved ones who are watching over or visiting us. I personally feel the very strong loving presence of my grandmother with me regularly. Her love and acceptance is tangible. I feel a safety net of love from her and can go to her when I'm feeling troubled.

My biggest nudge came during my career change. For years I said I was too risk averse to be in business for myself, too dependent on a regular paycheck. When I became disenchanted with executive search work and went to a career coach, I discovered that coaching was my calling. At various times in my life, I naturally helped people through transitions. When I went to the coaching school web sites, it was obvious to me because I felt the warm, familiar feeling of being at home. I couldn't do anything else but become a coach.

ASKING

The key to getting angelic advice is to ASK. Angels are present and ready to help. However, Virtue says they cannot interfere unless asked by you. Here are some ways I communicate with the divine angels and use as exercises in my workshops.

Simply asking for an insight or help is the most direct. Asking for advice is followed by some quiet time to listen. Listening means sitting quietly, calming the run-away thoughts of past or future times and being open to hear what comes. It also means not judging what comes. The message may seem a little crazy until you take some time to reflect on the possible meanings.

You can also ask for dream guidance. A client asked for a lesson on a recent night before bed and got a clear message. She was told to stop comparing herself and her life to others. She was being too hard on herself when she found herself less than others.

I do journal dialogue with angels by asking a question and writing whatever response comes up. I am usually surprised at what I receive. I also do "non-dominate hand" dialogue writing in response to a question. Concentrating on forming the words with your other hand takes your conscious mind out of the equation. Your deeper knowing and divine inspiration is allowed to come through.

Recently I am asking the Archangel Raphael daily to heal my heart area of old grudges and hurts. I know the energy pressure I feel in my mid-back (heart chakra area) is telling me my thoughts are of judgment and separation. Surprisingly, the judgment is usually about me and only sometimes about other people. Then I stop and purposely shift my thoughts to connection and love. I pay attention to the energy and tightness in my back (describing the sensations with 3-4 words like throbbing, dull, energy sparkles), and it disappears. I don't judge myself-I just notice the body and all the sensations.

These insights come over time, of course. And I continue to notice-connecting my body's reaction to my Ego thoughts is key. Then I know what healing to request.

TRUSTING

When we hear the voice, how do we know whether it is the Higher Self or the Ego? Virtue says the Higher Self's messages are loving, consistent, positive, generous and win-win. So the messages that are jealous, "better than" or "less than", immature, unfocused, or negative are probably the Ego trying to pull your chains and keep you small. When the Ego convinces us that we are separate, we are locked in the cycle of comparing and judging and never changing.

A client in my eight-week chakra coaching class revealed that she knows she's here to do some type of creative art. Her body is so connected to this purpose that it begins to go numb when she doesn't take this path. She has now arranged time to devote to finding her own brand of creativity.

Another client has been drawn to nutrition and how diet can help people's lives. As she became more in touch with her passion in our class, she realized why the advertising/PR world she inhabits is not satisfying. She is now set to start school in September to be a certified nutritionist. And her face lights up when she talks about helping people eat more healthy meals.

Both of these people are now on a path of fulfilling a "calling". They are finding the joy of doing what they were put on earth to do (or at least starting toward that mission). Since comparing is not useful, let's dissolve that thought now. Your mission may be like theirs or it may be the way in which you do your job. I always argue that work should be about something larger than just the content. Perhaps your mission is to provide a high integrity example of a corporate employee to the other people in your organization. Another client is working with renewed vigor knowing that her purpose is to provide calm and knowledgeable customer service for technical customers.

LISTENING

What still small voice is speaking to you? What life-long interest is waiting for you to pay attention and begin your pursuit? Go to your quiet place and listen.

If you want to discuss these ideas or other questions, give me a call or send an email. I have a few openings to work with very special people on their paths.
