NOTICING THE FLOW OF LIFE
"If there is no movement there is no life."
Franklyn Sills, The Polarity Process
DAILY FLOW
When is the last time you recall a day that seemed
to flow: things got done, progress was made, relationships
were formed, or relaxation was enjoyed. Did you
pay attention?
It is humbling to planners like me when a day
seems to flow in perfection without my straining
to push it along. Flowing into the next best task
or project is a much better way to instinctively
determine the sequence of the day.
I'm learning to flow through my days. I know
roughly what I want to accomplish and what appointments
I have. I also ask myself if any one or two items
have to get done due to time deadlines. After
that I simply allow for inspiration, last minute
changes and roadblocks sending me on a detour.
I feel more peaceful during the day and happier
with the results at the end of the day.
Vernon Howard says, "True independence comes
when we cease to force and start to flow."
(Quoted in Pathways to a Radiant Self by Kathy
Pike.) Flow is the focus of the second energy
center or chakra. Movement and cleansing and change
are themes of this portion of the chakra system.
Where do you witness movement in your life? How
does your body move? Do you enjoy dance or tai
chi or yoga? How can you create flow in your day?
Anodea Judith writes, "To find consistency
within change is to embrace the unfolding flow.
Where we developed grounding, stability, focus
and stillness in the first chakra, now our second
chakra challenge is just the opposite: to let
go, flow, move, feel and yield. Only by moving
does our consciousness expand, and only through
change is our consciousness stimulated. Movement
and change stimulate awakening."
LIFE WORK FLOW
Another place where I am sensing flow is in the
coaching work I do. More than three years ago
I began planting the seeds for this business and
a year ago I followed my intuition and studied
the mind body coaching and chakra work. At the
first of this year when I advertised my first
introductory workshop, I had 19 people attend
and two small groups to study the eight-week program
with me. People told me "You really seem
to be in your element with this work."
Flowing with my intuition into this mind/body
work was a reminder of three years ago when I
followed my heart into coaching. I have found
the most meaningful work I have ever done and
the most rewarding. And people are attracted to
the work. Clients flow towards me and towards
this material.
When we align with our life passion (also a second
chakra theme), people are attracted to our energy
and progress is made easily. This is a measure
of the rightness and authenticity of your work.
A spiritual view of this would be walking the
path you are destined to walk-doing your life's
work. Things come together and opportunities abound.
I walked into a bookstore this summer with a
sample copy of Kathy Pike's chakra workbook and
got not only an order but also an appearance for
a workshop. I dropped off a copy of the book and
got a call to speak at a downtown Mind Body Healing
Expo in October. Opportunities appear when I speak
honestly about this work and my passion for it.
Another testimony to being on the right path
came when Kathy Pike called with the idea to go
into partnership doing this work. She also felt
the resonance I have with this work, and knew
we could pursue it together. And I am thrilled
to be partnering with her to take this material
to a wider audience. Wonderful opportunities arise
when you are passionate about what you are doing.
So what makes you passionate? Notice when you
feel alive. What are you doing? Who are you with?
How can you create flow in your present life?
Feel the movement of the day and go with it.
"When you are tapped into your essential
nature and your whole sensing being, your brilliance
and life flows. Expression comes easily and you
create with less effort. You are in the boat,
on the river of life, floating gracefully in the
main current. Time becomes endless and the magic
of life unfolds in every moment. You are free
to feel and sense your inner being and the magic
of the world that lies before you." Kathy
