A 2000 YEAR OLD SECRET
By now, you've probably heard of the film, The
Secret. It's hot and was on Larry King and Oprah.
The movie describes the power of our thoughts
and words to impact our world. First, this is
not really new. As the film states, other great
minds have fully understood the energy in thoughts
and words and its ability to impact the energy
in objects. This is quantum physics. Those of
us in "New Thought" churches have been
reading and focusing on this for since 1800's.
And founded in the Bible, these ideas were discussed
2000 years ago.
"Every thought of form, held in thinking
substance, causes the creation of that form-but
always, or at least generally, along lines of
growth and action already established." according
to Wallace Wattles in The Science of Getting Rich
in 1910.
MANIFESTING PROSPERITY
So what are the laws of manifesting or creating?
We are all using them NOW. We are either unaware
of our creations or we are very aware and purposeful
in them. Are you creating your world from thoughts
of fear and worry or are you choosing your life
from a higher frequency of love and peace?
The key overarching law in the Dynamics of Prosperity
is giving and receiving. "The Bible describes
the basic law of prosperity when it speaks of
sowing and reaping or giving and receiving. The
scientists describe it as action and reaction.
By some it has been termed the law of supply and
demand…I like to think of this basic law
of prosperity as radiation and attraction: what
you radiate outward in your thoughts, feelings,
mental pictures and words, you attract into your
life and affairs. But you cannot get something
for nothing." Said Catherine Ponder in 1962.
(I've heard the Secret misinterpreted to be talking
about magnetism as the scientific law. It is not
magnetism but action and reaction: for every action
there is an equal and opposite reaction.)
The Secret discusses conscious choices of your
thoughts and words. However there's a flow of
reciprocal love, money, hard work, etc. So we
give to charities and our families, and churches
and the result is a flow to us. We give of our
hard work and passion and we are rewarded with
results and the energy of money.
However, The Secret is just the beginning in
the lessons of manifesting prosperity. Whether
you believe in a Higher Power or Universal Intelligence,
there is a feeling among most Americans that some
Higher Power exists. I believe this Higher Power
is always a force for Good and is present everywhere.
So the creation of your life path is in my belief
a co-creation with this Higher Power.
How else can you explain people who decide to
change jobs and suddenly meet a career coach?
I recently had a client who expressed her concern
about back problems and not having much luck so
far in finding a doctor to work with her. I had
just been to my first session with a naprapath
who I quickly recommended.
We all act as angels and guides to others at
crucial times. Happenstance or the work of a Higher
Power? It's up to you to determine. We also know
that our great minds in the past acknowledge the
power of intuition to assist them in finding solutions.
Einstein is known to have taken naps and dreamed
some of the answers to his relativity questions.
We each have love or divine nature inside us
when we are born. This is the true nature of you-a
divine spiritual being. When we connect to this
nature, the Higher Power works through us to bring
good to us and to others. This element is not
really discussed in the Secret. This explains
why when our church visualized a new parking lot
and ended up selling land to a bank who built
the parking for us! There's another Intelligence
guiding us to a greater good than we imagine.
This is the portion of the process where your
EGO desires are set aside and the Higher Power
for Good works though you. We often say at the
end of a prayer or intention: "This or something
better." This allows the Universal Intelligence
to deem the best for all in the situation. This
is the stuff of miracles-healings, creations,
brilliant insights.
TIPS
Establish the flow-give and receive-love, money,
kindness, patience
Convert a negative to what you do want. Be specific
and visualize it
How does it feel to have this goal achieved?
Have I created a vacuum for the new using forgiveness
and releasing?
Is my goal one of good for all or win-win?
Am I the person who feels loving and loveable
and treats myself and others well?
What lessons do I have along the path to my goal?
Am I open to this or something better?
What old beliefs do I need to replace with new
ones to clear the way?
Am I grateful for my many blessings? I have everything
I could ever need.
Do I imagine my goal at some future time? I may
be limiting its current arrival.
In Unity we believe the Higher Power of Good
is the Source and the more we connect to this
Essence, the more we are conscious of its presence.
This creates form and experience in our lives.
And as Tom Sheperd wrote recently in Unity Magazine,
"I find the words of Jesus instructive in
this regard: "Strive first for the kingdom
of God and righteousness, and all these things
will be given to you as well." He's the expert
they should have consulted. As far as I can tell,
what Jesus said 2000 years ago is no secret at
all."
